While I was cooking, Dustin came into the kitchen and said: “Honey, if you can stomach watching MTV for a couple hours they’re showing the New Moon trailer during it. Just saw the ad on Twitter.”
*insert me screaming like a schoolgirl*
Me: “HELL YES we’re watching!!”
I quickly finished up cooking, which was super simple as is. My plan was to go for a walk before we ate, but I was sooo hungry, so I made a hearty meal first. I was planning on a shrimp + avocado salad, but the fusspots were whining about it, so I simplified and went the turkey burger/salad route.
We grilled six 4oz ground turkey breast burgers (120 cal each) on the grill outside while I made a salad with:
- 4 or 5 cups of green leaf lettuce and baby arugula mixed
- 1 plum tomato (15 cal)
- Red onion (15 cal)
- 2 teaspoons EVOO (80 cal)
- 2 TBSP red wine vinegar (5 cal)
- 1/2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (5 cal)
- 1 chopped garlic clove (5 cal)
- 1/2 teaspoon honey (10 cal)
I whisked the vinaigrette in a large bowl first, then added in my veggies and tossed it all together. I LOVE when all the veggies — especially the lettuce — are coated well with dressing. Makes it taste so much more flavorful.
Then I plated it and topped the salad with 14g goat cheese crumbles (40 cal) and 2 of the turkey burgers that I put on 2 Martin’s 100% whole wheat potato rolls (160 cal, 80 cal each) with 1 TBSP Heinz no salt added ketchup (25 cal) and 1 teaspoon spicy mustard (5 cal) split between both burgers.

SO GOOD! Each burger, including the bun, ketchup and mustard comes to just 215 calories each and the salad was about 160 calories. All of that: just 590 calories!
I ate all of it, too. It was very filling at the time, but for some reason, 2 hours later I was hungry again. We ate around 8:00PM (still on a weird schedule), then started watching the MTV movie awards at 9:00PM. By 10:00PM my tummy was rumbling, what the heck? I had tons of protein, fats in the EVOO + goat cheese. *shrugs* So, I snacked on a Nutz Over Chocolate Luna bar (180 cal) while we watched the awards. The New Moon trailer looked awesome!! I can’t wait to see it. I’m a HUGE Twilight fan, if you don’t know by now.
Although, I liked the book way more than the movie and I’m sure it will be that way with all the movie sequels. If you haven’t read the books, definitely do before seeing the movies. Movies tend to leave a lot of important details out and/or exaggerate plots or straight out make things cornier than they are meant to be.
After the awards show, I went downstairs to play in my obstacle course. I did 2 hours of walking and step board.
When I got done, I was DRENCHED in sweat. I had a bottle of lemonade Vitamin Water 10 (25 cal per bottle) during my workout and then a bottle of diet Snapple (10 cal) when I was done. I wanted to drink a lot more, but that would defeat my purpose of trying to work up a big sweat to get rid of this water weight. Then I took a much needed shower and to be honest, I wasn’t that interested in eating, probably because I drank so much. But hubby was hungry and I knew I should have something post-workout. So we had cereal. I’ve had vanilla hemp milk in my pantry for awhile, so I put a box of it in the fridge the day before and finally tried it on my cereal.
My bowl: 1 serving Kashi Island Vanilla cereal (180 cal)

w/ 1 medium banana (110 cal) and 7oz sweetened vanilla hemp milk (115 cal) for a total of just 405 yummy-PWO-calories.

I ate the last piece of the banana as I was slicing it in — the banana started to outnumber the cereal

My hemp milk review: I liked it! It tasted like… candy?! Almost like a toasted marshmallow. Yum! It reminded me of soy milk, only creamier and with a different flavor.
Pros: Less sodium than milk, tasty, healthy, fun alternative
Cons: Less protein than regular milk or soy milk, pricey
Conclusion: I’d definitely buy it again. I want to try it in a smoothie.
I was exhausted after eating this, but I stayed up for another hour-hour and a half. By that point in the day, I only had around 1400 calories, so I made a small turkey sandwich with 1 slice turkey, 1 slice cheese and mayo before I went to sleep. Oh, and a few bites of cottage cheese right out of the container. hehe I ended the day around 1800-1850 calories. Not too bad I guess. I’m trying to lose some water weight before Dustin’s birthday, but it’s not budging! Or maybe it is and I’m just being impatient. I have to remind myself that Aunt Flo just left, so I need to give it some time. I’m sure I’ll drop a few pounds by Thursday. Not that it matters that much, but I know it will be a “free day” to indulge and I’d really like to not add on more puffiness! We’ll see what happens. I’m going to work up another big sweat, maybe some HIIT today. Woo hoo! hehe
Off to watch Glenn Beck now!
