This is a double post, twice the flavor, twice the fun!
Sometimes smaller meals just don’t do it for me, so when I woke up hungry on Thursday, I decided that I wanted a huge breakfast instead of an average sized one. Ironically, the amount of food wasn’t the huge part, it was just calorie-dense, but satisfying. I like to feel full after a meal and not just “held over” until my next meal. I’ve been dying for another one of my smoothies with my favorite new protein powder, but I also wanted something with a lot of substance, so I made the smoothie + 2 egg pita pocket sandwiches.

- 2 Joseph’s 100% whole wheat mini pita breads stuffed with:
- 2 scrambled eggs (150 cal) and steamed veggies (asparagus, bell pepper strips and onion; 40 cal) cooked in a nonstick frying pan with Pam olive oil cooking spray (15 cal)
- 1 oz fresh mozzarella cheese (80 cal)
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
- 1 cup Silk chocolate soy milk (140 cal)
- 4 TBSP (24g) PB2 powdered peanut butter (108 cal)
- 1 frozen medium banana (110 cal)
- 35g Lifetime Life’s Basics vanilla plant protein powder (129 cal)
1 serving, 487 calories, 35g protein

Plus 5 cherry tomatoes (25 cal) on the side with 1 TBSP Bolthouse Farms yogurt ranch dressing (40 cal) that I didn’t use very much of.

Everything was DELICIOUS! And like I said, not exactly a feast but still came out to 997 calories!
It kept my belly full and happy for hours and hours though and that’s what I wanted to achieve, total satisfaction, not semi-satisfaction.
Being that was the brunt of my calories for the day, the rest of the day consisted of bites + nibbles and then finally dinner before bed. I was exhausted by the time I started cooking, so I ended up overcooking the turkey burger which also stuck to the grill and I let the avocado sit out a wee bit too long before I used it so it had a chance to oxidize (turn brown).
So it wasn’t the most attractive burger I have ever eaten, but tastes counts waaaaaay more than appearance and it was super tasty!

4oz ground turkey breast (120 cal) grilled on the indoor grill on 1 Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted grain English muffin (160 cal) with fresh avocado (40 cal), red onion, and a very little bit of yellow mustard and Heinz no salt added ketchup (15 cal)

I didn’t know what to make for a side dish, and decided to try making some “fake baked” beans in the microwave with a can of Everyday 365 no salt added pinto beans and Hick Lickin’ Maple BBQ sauce. They were AWESOME!!!!!!!! They tasted just like baked beans, only less calories and sodium. Yum! My serving was: 130g of the beans (110 cal) with 2 TBSP Hick Lickin’ BBQ sauce (30 cal) = 140 cal. Altogether, only 485 calories and a tasty way to end the day.
Friday Night Date Night
Dustin and I decided to quit work early and go out to dinner and a movie. Being we didn’t wake up until late afternoon, I just saved my appetite until we got to the restaurant. But first, I did 30 minutes totaling 8.25 miles on my recumbent bike. It felt great, then a shower felt even better.
First we went for dinner at Cosimo’s Brick Oven in Middletown where our eyes ended up being much, much bigger than our stomachs.
First came the irresistible bread basket of doom!

Oh man, I can’t resist bread! I just <3 it so much. hehe I found this at the bottom:

Italian herb Focaccia — Mmmm! I had 3 pieces altogether dipped in the EVOO + balsamic plate that it came with.
Then out came fried calamari

This is the freshest, lightest fried calamari I have ever had. I had about 7 or 8 pieces of it. Truthfully, by the time our entrees came, I was full from the bread, calamari and 2 glasses of unsweetened iced tea.
I ordered the salad special: Crispy chicken breast with asparagus, sun dried tomatoes and gorgonzola tossed in house vinaigrette

I don’t care for thick asparagus, I prefer it to be thin and tender. It was also undercooked, so I only had 1 bite of it.

We also ordered 2 pizzas: Margherita (which I was disappointed to find didn’t come with fresh tomatoes on top
) and a shrimp scampi pizza with arugula and parmesan cheese

I had just a few bites of my salad, half slice of the margherita pizza and 1 slice of the shrimp scampi arugula pizza, but we ended up taking most of it home. I barely made a dent in my salad…

We gave our waiter a generous tip being he was cool and didn’t mind that we needed almost everything wrapped after he just brought it out 5 minutes prior.
Our tummies were STUFFED, so we took our time shopping at Target for an hour before we went to the cinema to see Inglorious Basterds, which was a FANTASTIC movie!! I won’t give any spoilers, but I highly recommend seeing it. We’ll definitely buy it on DVD when it comes out, too. At the theatre, we got “kidspacks” of popcorn, candy and soda, because we totally needed some empty calories to make the date night complete! LOL I didn’t add any “butter stuff” to my popcorn and my candy of choice was Gummi Stars. I ate all of the popcorn and half of the gummies.

Dustin patiently waiting to eat the popcorn while I took pics in the lobby. Dustin loves popcorn, he will eat it as a meal and does quite often.

We had so much fun!! Great dinner, great movie and the best company, each other.
When we got home, Moose decided he wanted to be on the blog, so say hello to him.

So now it’s Saturday and I am paying dearly for the sodium overload from yesterday. I didn’t gain any weight, (actually down a lb), but I feel yucky. I didn’t touch anymore of the leftovers we brought home and instead donated to my mom’s teeny tiny appetite. hehe We just woke up a few hours ago and I haven’t decided what we’re going to do yet tonight, but I’m definitely hungry, so I know eating is in our immediate future. lol Hmm… what to have… be back later!
