Happy 2010, everyone! :D We rang in the new year with a little bubbly…

…and cheese. Lots of wonderful, flavorful, cheeeeeeeeeese!

Smoked gouda, gorgonzola, brie, and spreadable goat cheese served with organic Ritz-like and organic Wheat Thins crackers.

LOVE these crackers that I picked up at Hannaford. They taste just like the Nabisco variety, only made with entirely wholesome ingredients and they are fairly low in calories and sodium; The Golden Rounds are 90 calories, 149mg sodium for 6 crackers and the Wheat Thins are 60 calories, 105mg sodium for 7 crackers. Yum!

I had 2 glasses of champagne, and several cheese and crackers. We watched the ball drop, then watched a movie and called it a night. Sweet and simple, with the best company ever; each other! hearts_smiley

My 2010 resolutions:

  • 1. Be more consistent with a healthy lifestyle. No more 6 month long mouth parties!!
  • 2. Keep my sodium intake lowish at least 80% of the time.
  • 3. Eat more raw foods (fruit, veggies, nuts). I want to replace at least 3 or 4 meals a week with uncooked nourishment.
  • 4. Waste less. I throw out way too much food and buy things that I never use.
  • 5. Start running and run a 5k by Thanksgiving ’10.
  • 6. Reduce stress by any means possible. It’s a killer!
  • 7. Be a better blogger.

That’s my list so far. It’s subject to change at any time lol. ;) They’re all realistic goals that I would commit to any time of the year, but January is a fresh start, so now is as good a time as ever to set new goals. I’m not big on deadlines or anything, but I do like to have some sort of guideline to have things to look forward to or to stay motivated by. No pressure though (see resolution #6). :D

We’re going house shopping today, as long as the weather cooperates. hehe So far the new year is off to a great start!! I’m actually looking forward to Monday. I’m all holiday-ed out! haha Since Thanksgiving it’s been rush, rush, rush and eat, eat, eat! Ughh! I’m looking forward to work, exercise and cooking at home a lot more often. Time to go take a shower. I haven’t taken one since last year! *giggles*

Farewell, 2009!!

by Jenn (j3nn.net) on January 1, 2010

This is my last post of 2009 — :( and :D !

We were going to take a quick trip to Trader Joe’s in Westchester county early this morning, but just as we were leaving, heavy snow started falling! We have AWD, so our vehicle was capable, but we didn’t want to risk it. We decided to go shopping at Hannaford in Middletown instead. By the time we got out of the store, the snow had stopped and the roads were just about cleared. Figures! lol After shopping, we swung by Panera Bread for lunch. I had a Smokehouse Turkey panini — OMG, so good (and salty!). I felt kind of silly, I paid for a full price drink and ended up filling my cup with water. Ah well, probably best that way anyway. When we were walking out to the car, I almost fell in the parking lot! It was very slippery, with snow and ice everywhere. Thank goodness I caught myself or else I would have fell backwards and hit my head really hard on the pavement. Phew! Close call!! Dustin got scared and guided me the rest of the way to the car. My hero <3

I kept things simple last night with filet mignon defrosted from the freezer and a spinach salad:

A smallish filet, maybe around 3oz and a fresh baby spinach salad made with: ~3 cups fresh baby spinach, 1/4 cup Trader Joe’s 3 berry granola and a little shredded Cabot 50% reduced fat cheddar cheese tossed in EVOO + red wine vinegar.

I LOVE Mr. Spice salt free garlic steak sauce, it tastes just like A1 steak sauce, minus the sodium. YUM! The steak was perfectly cooked and succulent. Mmm!

Not sure where I got the salad combo from, but it was delish. Although, I started to get bored chewing all of it and left around 1/4 of it. Too much at once. :)

After shopping and Panera Bread for lunch, we took a nap to rest up for tonight. Then I made a quick sandwich on these soft, delicious onion rolls I picked up from Hannaford:

~1 oz reduced sodium ham, 1 slice genoa salami, 1 slice provolone cheese with a little Hellmann’s olive oil mayo on an amazing onion roll and about 1/2 serving of Ruffles reduced fat sea salt chips.

Simple and yummy. It’s 11:00PM now and we’re getting ready to pop the champagne. YAY! I wanted to make sure I had something in my stomach before drinking or else I’d get tooooo tipsy and feel yuck. hehe Tomorrow update is going to include my resolutions and we’ll look back at 2009. I have a small 2 person, 6 cat party to attend now.

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!
