Ok, so we participated in the Super Bowl festivities just a little bit, but only because I was tired.
Being we had a late start, we didn’t go through with all of our plans yesterday, but we still had fun. I didn’t want to wait until lunch to eat, so I had a hearty snack in the morning with MaraNatha dark chocolate almond butter and Polaner seedless raspberry fruit spread.
First I took 2 slices of Martin’s 100% whole wheat potato bread and applied a heart-shaped cookie cutter to it, which ended up making it weigh 36g, just about equal to the 35g/1 slice/serving (70 cal)

Then I spread 1 TBSP MaraNatha dark chocolate almond butter (90 cal) and 1 TBSP seedless raspberry Polaner All Fruit spread (40 cal) inside. With 1 cup skim milk (90 cal) this was a tasty little snack!! It actually tasted like a soft chocolate and raspberry candy. YUM

Then we headed out to Middletown. We intended to have sushi at The Park, but they were closed due to the Super Bowl.
Not wanting any chain restaurants, it left us with very few options being we were seeing a movie at 4:45PM. We decided on Cosimo’s Brick Oven, their menu is mainly pizza, which is delicious, but not exactly what I was in the mood for. You know when you are planning on one thing, then have to settle for another and it’s hard to get in the mood for it? Maybe I’m just spoiled.
Anyway, we still had a delicious late lunch that started with my weakness: The bread basket!

The focaccia was a little hard, but the crusty Italian bread underneath was soft, crusty and irresistible. We ate almost the whole basket with the EVOO + vinegar.
Dustin ordered a margherita pizza, of which I had a bite or 2.

It was yummy, but I was more interested in my beautiful Caesar salad with salmon:

The salad was aaaaaaaaa-mazing! Romaine lettuce tossed in Caesar dressing, with croutons, a ridiculous amount of shaved parmesan cheese and grilled salmon. LOVE! I ate all of the salmon, about half of the lettuce and just 1 or 2 slices of the parmesan–there has to be at least 5 or 6 HUGE slices on there!
Oh, and I found all of the croutons hiding under the lettuce.
I didn’t order this salad in an effort to make a “healthy” choice, because it’s not exactly healthy, I genuinely LOVE salmon. It’s always the first thing I look for on a menu and I usually choose it more than anything else because it’s freakin’ fantastic.
Feeling very full from the bread, salad, and 2 glasses of water (not the brightest idea before a movie lol), we headed to the theatre to see Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson. We missed the 4:45PM showing, so we waited for the 5:15PM one. It was pretty sweet, just us and 2 other people in there who were kind enough to sit far away from us. lol The movie was good, kind of predictable and a little sad at the end. I’m really tired of seeing terrorist/homeland security/weapons of mass destruction movies though, Hollywood needs to be more creative! Comedies are few and far between these days and a lot of other plots are recycled, with the same tired actors. Foreign films with subtitles are kicking Hollywood’s butt. Yay for Netflix! hehe
We were going to go to Kingston after the movie for a late dinner, but I was exhausted after the movie. So we stopped by Shop Rite for a few things and headed back to the love nest. Mom was having a Super Bowl party with the cats, so we joined them for the last quarter of the game and had some unhealthy Super Bowl munchies. We still ended up going to sleep later than we wanted, we like to be up by 2:00AM for when the London market opens, but our schedule shifted to a regular morning schedule the other day when we stayed up too late. So now we have to fix this, but it’s not easy when you don’t have to be up at a certain time.
It’s a bright, sunny Monday morning and I’m thinking about lunch. I’m also thinking about Valentine’s Day! We haven’t decided what we want to do yet, but we have some ideas. I’m excited!!
What did you guys do for Super Bowl Sunday? I haven’t visited any blogs yet today, but I can’t wait to see all the parties that everyone hosted or attended! This is going to be an awesome day around the blogosphere.
Speaking of blogs, this is the week of sweet.
