Hello from New York state! We’re back home safe and sound. I was sad to leave! Our flight home was a breeze. 2 hours 5 minutes nonstop. It was great! It was our first time flying jetBlue and we were pretty impressed. They don’t have a first class option; all of their seats are roomy and offer DirecTV and Sirius satellite radio. The attendants were friendly and the complimentary snacks rocked! They gave you a wide variety to choose from, I opted for the animal crackers and ginger ale. Ginger ale on a plane is becoming part of my flying ritual. I dig it. Complimentary snacks on the plane remind me of snack time in school, lol.
We spent the last couple of days in Florida doing repeats of our favorites: Go karts and Epcot, fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, went on the Small World ride and the Dumbo ride. Yes, I am a toddler on the inside. Dumbo was one of my favorite rides! hehe
Fireworks at the Magic Kingdom are awesome!!! Impressive display… every night!
Tried to capture a pic of us on the teacups, but the ride only lasts like 40 seconds, we couldn’t get it in time. So here are random people that are impossible to avoid capturing, haha.
After teapcups, we went on the Raceway thingie. Did not enjoy that! It was hard to keep on track. I liked go karts soooo much better.
LOVE go karts!!! We had so much fun on them that we ended up going 3 times over the week. Already started searching for go kart tracks here in NY, haha.
We went on Soarin’ at Epcot, which is pretty neat but the wait in line was the worst one we experienced. 55 long, boring minutes, and it was stuffy in there. I enjoyed it but I don’t think I’d stand on line for 55 minutes for it again.
Lots of walking, lots of eating. My only complaint about the Disney Parks is that their food options are kind of limited. Seemed like 9 out of 10 places are pretty much hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets, and the sit-down restaurants are always full. I know they are catering to children, but I think they should have more food options! Maybe their next park will be Food Land or something, LOL. That would be awesome. Seriously though, they should build some more restaurants in the parks or at least add more to the menus. Other than that, they do everything else right. Their staff is wonderful, everything is meticulously clean—I even witnessed one of the business suit white-collar employees yield to pick up a napkin on the ground! Very impressive. They know how to be hospitable and gracious every step of the way. I applaud their efforts to stay consistent all of these years by treating every single one of their guests with respect and appreciation. They do a great job making every visitor feel special and welcome. It’s a nice change from the typical customer service you deal with on a day-to-day basis. Just shows you that it’s all in the management. Kudos to you, Mickey and other cast members! ![]()
We went to Joe’s Crab Shack for dinner two more times after the first time. We LOVE that place!
I had the tastiest mussels in my steam pot the last time. Also found out that I cannot have spicy foods without inducing a headache and an anxiety attack!!
I tried the diablo steam pot, and it was so delicious, but the spiciness brought on head pains and panic. I’ve been noticing this for the past year or so. Something about hot peppers triggers a bad reaction. Sigh. One more yummy to add to my list of “problematic.”
We had a fabulous vacation. I was pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have any insects bugging us! They must be well controlled around the theme parks, I imagine? We’ll definitely return to Florida, hopefully sometime next year. Next time we’ll hit up Universal and Busch Gardens and maybe the Florida Keys. Can’t wait to go back!
I bought some souvenirs and had them shipped right from the Mouse Gear store in Epcot. Very convenient and simple. Again, they do almost everything right.
My favorite foods from the trip:
Korean pork and cabbage slaw lettuce wrap

Swedish meatballs with what I found out is lingonberry sauce! Lingonberry?! Never heard of! Must find at home.
Blue cheese and bacon iceberg wedge @ the Prime Time 50s Café
Pretzel sausage roll at Epcot
Everything at the Hollywood Brown Derby!
The Cobb salad…
The lobster bisque…
The salmon and pork tenderloin…
The divine crème brulee…
We also had Chic-fil-A that you can’t get here in NY. Love their nuggets! And Joe’s Crab Shack was probably our number one favorite place to eat. We love seafood. Tried to get into Coral Reef at Epcot, but it was booked even for reservations a day in advance. Oh well, Joe’s was fantastic. Rumor has it they are opening one in NY, according to our waiter.
Yay!
It feels kind of weird to be home. On the way back from the airport, we stopped to pick up my eye glasses from the mall. I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW! Wow! It’s so awesome. I didn’t realize how poorly I was seeing before. I’m so excited. I can read signs and the text on the TV and everything has come to life. Wish I had them while on vacation. So happy to have them now. I’ll post a pic of what they look like soon. Right now we’re trying to locate the Nikon Coolpix camera that I just bought last month; it’s missing!! I don’t think we left it at the hotel, but I don’t know now. It’s nowhere to be found.
I think I got all the pictures and videos off of it, but I think a few may be on it. I don’t know how we lost it! I’m hoping it shows up. Already put a call into our hotel, waiting for a call back from their lost and found. Doubt they have it, but I’d be relieved if they did. No idea how we lost it. Maybe it will show up. Hope so!
Today, we’re recuperating. Dustin slept about 16 hours last night, lol. He didn’t sleep the night before, so I guess he was making up for it. I took Caesar for a 45 minute walk around noon, it felt good but I don’t think Disney has anything on our subdivision. Our subdivision is hilly and windy, much harder to walk on than clean Disney pavement. The cold air irritated my sinuses, which are still infected. My eye has that cloudy, needs-to-pop, underwater feeling still. I made a doctor’s appointment for Monday, hopefully she will prescribe something helpful.
I have to go grocery shopping. Our fresh produce stash is nonexistent, so after I shower we’re heading out. I haven’t jumped on the scale yet, I think I’ll wait a couple days, lol. I don’t want to freak out. Although, my clothes feel so much looser. Even if I gained weight, I sure feel like I lost inches. We’ll see, I guess! ![]()
