A few weeks ago, Wenonah at Clearly Fresh Bags contacted me and offered to send some samples of their bags. Being we almost always have an abundance of fresh produce in our house that I’d like to keep that way, I gladly accepted her offer.
I received my sample in the mail just a few days after her email offer, but haven’t gotten a chance to try them out until today. Last night, I picked up some California white nectarines at Hannaford. I was a little saddened when I first saw them in the store because Averie was blogging about them coming into season WEEKS ago and I knew that meant that these beautiful fruits were probably picked way back then and just finally made it into New York this week.
Tip: Remove the stickers from your fresh produce immediately. Once they ripen more, removing the stickers might damage the skin.
After removing the stickers, washing, and drying my white nectarines, I put them into a Clearly Fresh Bag and pressed some air out of it. They seem much like regular zip storage bags and closed easily.
From Clearly Fresh Bags’ web site:
Keep your fruits and vegetables fresh-from-the-market longer and save money by throwing away less! Clearly Fresh® bags use BreatheWay technology to allow your fresh produce to breathe naturally and last longer – PLUS this bag is re-closeable and recyclable. Simple to use and cost-effective! Eat More Fresh, Healthy, Natural Fruits & Vegetables & Waste Less!
I’m leaving these on the counter. In a few days, we’ll see how they’re holding up! So far, so good. ![]()
Question: Have you ever tried Clearly Fresh Bags or something similar? I have “green” produce bags in the drawer, but admit that I’ve never tried them. Do the help? Fresh produce is so expensive and so good for you, it makes me cringe when I waste any of it. Hopefully these will reduce my waste!
Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this product review.
I am so puffy from a weekend of excess and being without my prescription diuretic; I gained 8 lbs just from sodium + fluid retention. I couldn’t get an appointment at the doctor any sooner than Friday. So, I’m trying to stay ultra low-sodium for the next few days, starting with a raw breakfast this morning:
This bar + a white nectarine (which tasted like an apricot?) + iced tea (not raw). The Raw Revolution hazelnut and chocolate bar is soo good. Like a brownie! Only raw and healthful.
I think I am going to be doing a moderate-raw diet on and off for awhile. It makes me feel so light and rejuvenated. RAW PLANTS RULE!
