Whoops, Too Whipped!

by J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on May 27, 2010

I finally got in a late afternoon workout yesterday. I did 60 minutes of my indoor obstacle course and upper body strength training. I was still pretty full from lunch, but by the end I needed a snack. So I decided to make a simple smoothie in my Vita-Mix, but I think I let it blend too long and it ended up so airy, LOL. Whooooooooops!

It didn’t even fit in the glass after I ultra blended it! I had to annex an extra cup and give it to Dustin, lol. It doesn’t even look like it, but it’s supposed to be chocolaty goodness. :( The air dilutes the color and flavor to nothingness. Le sigh…

  • 1 medium frozen banana (110 cal)
  • 16g Nesquik chocolate powder (60 cal)
  • 1 cup Valio nonfat lactose free milk (80 cal)

Calories: 250 — I suggest blending it MUCH less than I did. :? It had potential to be delicious.

Along with my glass of air with the subtle chocolate/banana flavor, I had a small 2 slice Tofurky (40 cal) + mustard sandwich on a slice of Freihofer’s Country White bread (90 cal).

Semi-fail post-workout snack comes in at 385 calories. I’m going to try that Nesquick banana smoothie combo again. I guess I underestimated my Vita-Mix’s power. It only needs a few seconds, not minutes, lol.

The day dragged on and before I knew it, it was 9:00PM. The last I checked it was 90F outside, but a chilly 70F inside. YAY for AC! I’d be a very whiny person right now if we didn’t have AC. Heat and I are like oil and water, only not as tasty. :| I didn’t know what I wanted for dinner. I mean, I wanted a lot of things, but I didn’t necessarily want to make them. Dustin opted for Chef Boy Ardee — Hey, don’t scoff! Remember: my parents bought the house I grew up in from the original Chef-Boy-Ardee. :P I never ate the stuff personally, but Dustin loves it, so whatever.

While I heated up his ravioli in the microwave, I boiled the rest of the Shop Rite raviolis that were in the freezer and heated up some jar sauce. This Classico roasted garlic sauce is actually made with entirely wholesome ingredients. Every single ingredient I would use at home, nothing funky whatsoever, and relatively low in sodium for a jarred sauce: 340mg per 1/2 cup.

I wasn’t in the mood to make any leafy greens on the side, so my tomato sauce sufficed as my veggies. One of THEE best sources of fruit/veggies, at that.

  • 2 servings Shop Rite square cheese ravioli (520 cal)
  • 1/2 cup Classico roasted garlic tomato sauce (60 cal)
  • Dusting of parmesan cheese (10 cal)

Calories: 590

Yum! I felt kind of guilty that I was eating something way better than Dustin’s, lol. Ah well, he eats things way tastier than the things I eat quite often, so it balances out, LOL.

I need to go shopping this evening, running low on fresh produce again! It goes so quickly, doesn’t it? I’m looking forward to this weekend, I’m going to complete my potted garden!! I’ll have pics. Are you growing anything this year?
