This has been a very, very long holiday season, and we’re still not done yet: New Year’s! Who knew the mundane days of January would be so darn appealing? #oldcatlady
Christmas Day was pretty chill around our abode. We opened copious amounts of presents, then ate and ate some more. Not complaining!
Christmas dinner: Prime rib roast, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, green beans + sweet onions + fresh garlic sauteed in coconut oil, and sweet rolls
The underside of the roast was very fatty (unflattering picture) so at least half of this piece wasn’t edible (to me). I’m sure there are some people willing to chomp down on it, though! heh Extremely delicious. Mom is a fantastic cook.
My thoughtful cousin, Tricia, dropped off even more gifts the day after Christmas. Look at this gorgeous fruit basket she brought me!
30 years ago, my parents owned the farmer’s market that this came from! They had 3 stands at the time, but I don’t remember this one. Only the one I grew up with in Milton. Life sure is full of twists and turns.
!!! She knows me so well. The berries are almost gone. I’ve been munching on them throughout the day. SO GOOD. And good for you. ![]()
Dustin and I had a late sushi lunch at The Park restaurant in Middletown on Monday. We haven’t been there in a while and I was in the mood for sushi.
My apologies for the horrible cell phone pics. ![]()
I started with seaweed salad…
…which was amazing.
My two sushi rolls: Philadelphia and a Boston roll (that wasn’t)
They made the Boston roll with imitation crab instead of shrimp.
Disappointing. #firstworldproblems
Dustin had the K.C. roll and a spider roll…
…not that they’re visible in the least.
I finished half of each roll before capitulating to fullness. Rice + water = (temporarily) super filling
We still have a surplus of leftovers from our Christmas Eve Feast of Seven Fishes, so I’ve been nibbling on them most of this week.
One of my favorite ways to use up leftover shrimp is to throw some on a nice bed of mixed veggies and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar.
Deliciousness.
A sprinkle of shredded asiago cheese isn’t such a terrible addition either.
Yum.
I was honored to have my Christmas Eve Feast of Seven Fishes calamari salad make it into Foodbuzz’s Top 9 yesterday!
At one point, I was #5 but I guess squid isn’t as exciting as some of the other top niners! hehe Thanks to everyone who buzzed me in! ![]()
Aunt Gina and Uncle Brian came over for pizza and Wii games last night. Caesar loves Aunt Gina…
I think the feeling is mutual. So cute. ![]()
So, what about you? Are you over the holidays or are you sad to see them end? I’m looking forward to 2012! It’s going to be a spectacular year if I have any say in it.
Only a few days before the primaries start in Iowa! Word on the street is that Ron Paul’s army of supporters is descending on Iowa in droves.
Vote for freedom. Vote for someone who will actually honor our Constitution, not just pretend to like most of our other representatives and leaders. Vote to restore our republic.
End these senseless wars!
“Dr. Paul is the only candidate with a plan to cut spending and truly balance the budget. This is the only plan that will deliver what America needs in these difficult times: Major regulatory relief, large spending cuts, sound monetary policy, and a balanced budget.” – RonPaul2012.com
